The Lakes Centre is located in Orford, set back from a cluster of quiet streets all named after lakes in the Lake District. Adjoined with the area’s popular children’s centre, this bright and airy nursery & pre-school is hugely welcoming for children and parents alike. Every room you wonder into is a hive of activity, colour and smiling faces – lots to see and do, as well as plenty of free space to let the imagination run free. Each large open-plan room (one per age group) opens out onto an amazing outdoor area where the adventure continues: places to climb and crawl, sand pits, a mud kitchen, a bug hotel, a pirate ship, planting gardens and a mini orchard… welcome to The Lakes Centre!

We have created an environment equipped for curious and independent children with the close guidance of our expert childcare team.

Engage in organised activities when they choose, and have the opportunity to enjoy quiet time when they need it. We find this approach helps to build children’s confidence, helping them interact with their peers and practitioners but also enabling them to play independently too.

Getting
messy & creative

Children’s creative skills are developed through a range of daily physical and sensory skill-based activities.

The sheer number of books and toys available means that no day is the same – but that’s really just the start of what’s on offer. Understandably, most parents prefer activities at home to create limited mess – but we love it! This means your child will enjoy getting messy regularly: baking, glueing, playdoughing, splashing, playing with foam and bubbles… it’s all in a day’s play (with no clearing up for you).

Enjoying the
great outdoors

There’s no such thing as bad weather and we think that it is important that children get as much time as they can outdoors. Our Forest School learning is the natural hands-on approach to learning outdoors.

That’s what waterproofs and warm coats were made for! Stomping around in the mud kitchen, investigating the latest creepy crawly movements at the ‘bug hotel’, building sand castles and dams, planting stuff in the garden, splashing in puddles, playing on little bikes, climbing and sliding, swinging and running… there’s nothing quite like the great outdoors.

Having 'delivered' and 'collected' O for over 2 years I couldn't let his final day pass without saying a BIG thank you to you all for the many experiences and opportunities you have given him during his time with you. He has come on so much and really loves his nursery. He will miss you all but with your help and work is now ready to take his next steps.

My son has loved naturegarten nursery from day 1 and happily runs up the path every day. My only worries have been from a mummy perspective due to some delayed development. The staff however were very supportive in working with him and made great effort to incorporate the advice of the speech therapist into their activities. The speech therapist even fed back to me how supportive and impressive she felt his key worker was. He has made great progress with the help of Naturegarten and it's fabulous to see just how much he has come on.

Naturegarten is a lovely safe preschool with caring staff. They have filled my daughters' days with excitement , adventure and learning and made her feel welcome and secure on her first weeks of joining naturegarten and leaving her mummy for a couple of days a week ..I miss her but know she is well cared for ..many thanks naturegarten.
